Softchoice’s Commitment to Customer Experience Awarded by Canadian Marketing Association

This past Friday, Softchoice had the privilege of winning an award for our focus on customer experience (CX) at the Canadian Marketing Association Awards Gala 2019. It was easily one of my most memorable career highlights, seeing Softchoice standing shoulder to shoulder with a number of well-known and respected brands.

The recognition was a great way to cap off a little more than two years of significant focus, building our voice of customer programs and turning feedback into programs and projects that close the gap between our customers’ experience and expectation.

This year we also celebrated Softchoice’s 30th birthday and with that, we celebrate thirty years of customer passion and building a business focused on helping our customers think differently about technology.

Thirty years ago, we set ourselves apart by collecting and cataloguing information about software so customers could help make better decisions. No one else was doing that at the time. Back then, we built our systems and tools focused on delivering value to the customer and polled customers about their experience with Softchoice. We had created the beginnings of a CX practice before we knew there was a term for it. It is part of our DNA.

But times change. Today, Google makes finding information faster and easier than it’s ever been, and our customers’ B2C experience is driving their B2B expectations. Those things that had once set us apart, are now considered table stakes.

Today’s technology customer is looking for something different. In an era where web portals, chatbots and call trees dominate, they want a partner who is accessible across channels, devices and time as well as understands their business and needs. They want a partner that is more human. In a time where their search engine provides them with endless technology options or cases studies on how everyone else has done it, they want a partner who inspires them to think differently about technology. Being that Human and Inspiring partner is the path that we are on.

As proud as we are of the recognition we’ve recently received and the work we’ve done over the last few years, we’re even more excited about what’s ahead… creating experiences, with our customers, partners and people, that are inseparable from the solutions and services we deliver.

Employee Recognition that Feels Like Winning an Oscar

Every year, Hollywood stars celebrate their achievements from the previous year while we watch in awe.  But beyond the glitz, glamour, fashion and box office revenues, why have these awards become so popular?

I believe it comes down to two very simple things: pride and respect. And it’s not just the entertainment industry –  even within the finance, technology or any other industry – recognition by peers is an honour for many.  The same applies in the workplace. In fact, employee recognition is a great approach to help motivate your people and retain your hardworking talent! Just like the hard-working beaver, employee commitment makes a huge difference in the environment!

This year when Softchoice was named to Canada’s Green 30, I wondered if there was a common thread among the organizations recognized. After reading more about them, I found that their employees’ feedback not only put them on the list, but employee involvement is driving the success of their sustainability programs.

This isn’t surprising. As with many workplaces, engaged employees are the internal change agents, fueling innovation and success of many programs. According to GreenResearch’s 2012 Annual Sustainability Executive Survey, staff engagement is one of the top two sustainability trends for 2012 – simply because “engaged employees make things happen”. Recognition at Softchoice:The Fashionable Side of Employee Rewards

The history of the necktie traces back to 1618. During the 30 Year War, pieces of cloth worn around the necks of Croatian mercenaries caught the eye of Parisians. They dubbed it the “cravat” and a fashion craze exploded. Softchoice has taken the necktie fashion craze even further…not only with a jacket, but by fashioning it into one of the company’s most prestigious sales awards – the Softchoice Tie Jacket Award.

President’s Club 2011 – Costa Rica

It’s no easy feat to find a breathtaking country that can cater to 80 of our employees from all across North America! But, never fail – we found it in Costa Rica. The  country’s beautiful town of Tamarindo welcomed all of us in May for President’s Club 2011! The annual trip is an exclusive opportunity for the top performers of the previous year to connect with each other and the Softchoice Leadership team.

As a corporate events specialist, I’m lucky to be involved in different facets of the Company – including many of the fun and exciting trips abroad! For those lucky 80 that headed south, I wanted to provide them with a memorable experience they’ll be talking about for a lifetime. Executing overseas corporate events can be tough thanks to time differences, language barriers and more. Behind the scenes, it’s not so glamorous but the feedback I received from attendees was fantastic!  Guests told us how much fun they had and how much they loved the resort.

The trip had tons of really radical highlights including an Afternoon Snorkel Sail. When guests weren’t diving into snorkel and check out the tropical sea life, they enjoyed the Costa Rican waters aboard a spacious boat. One guest commented, “Nice boat, great crew and service – made a very nice Guara Sour! Seeing the octopus was a treat.”
