Trucks must be equipped with Electronic Logging Devices (ELDs)

In December 2015 the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) announced the adoption of a Final Rule to improve roadway safety for commercial truck drivers. All drivers are mandated to have trucks equipped with Electronic Logging Devices (ELDs), replacing the paper log books that many are accustom to. In February 2016, the Canadian Government followed suit, announcing that the Ministry of Transportation would have a similar mandate in coming months.
