During the term, Softchoice employees have raised over $250,000. The majority of the funds were distributed as follows:

Bridging the Digital Divide
Bridging the Digital Divide was the largest effort for the Softchoice Cares Board this year. As such, Softchoice Cares formed a partnership with Habitat for Humanity for the Technology Access Program. Through this initiative, Softchoice will work in local cities in North America to provide funding and technical resources for the installation of computers and internet connections in select Habitat for Humanity homes. Softchoice Cares also supported a number of other initiatives that helped to “bridge the digital divide” such as; Msani school in Malawi to purchase 12 computers and necessary hardware, Technology Access Foundation (TAF) Leadership Awards etc. Sustaining Previous Projects
Softchoice Cares also put funding towards sustaining previous initiatives from the previous Softchoice Cares board. For the Technology Access Foundation, Softchoice donated a monetary amount that will allow 10-12 students for the full 2010-11 and 2011-12 academic years at the Genesee Learning Space in Seattle. This covers the costs for students to participate in after school enrichment classes, instructor salary, curriculum development, and other related costs to support the program. Other sustainability initiatives include the continuing support of the Chi-Ki Children’s Foundation, OFA funding and leaving an endowment of $15,000 for the 2011-2012 Softchoice Cares board.
Haiti Relief
Immediately after the earthquake that shook Haiti and it’s people to the core earlier this year, the Softchoice Cares board launched a plan to support the relief effort for Haiti. Through various activities during first quarter of 2010, employees managed to raise dollars for the Haiti relief fund. Some of these initiatives included:
- Rwanda Basket auction
- Selling Rwanda items
- Pot luck in Montreal
- Bake Sales in Toronto
- Superbowl pool company-wide

- March Madness Beer Cart
- NCAA pool company-wide
- Click2Care! ($1 was donated for every order on Softchoice.com)
- Volunteer Payroll Deductions
- $15,000 contribution from Softchoice Cares
Through all of these initiatives over $70,000 was raised. The funds were distributed evenly among three preferred charities: Habitat for Humanity, Doctors without Borders, and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.
