Empowering Women in the Workforce

DressSuccessDynamic corporate cultures depend on an inclusive, cohesive team attitude, which is why one of Softchoice’s core values is “We take care of each other.” This value extends beyond our office walls to our clients, our vendor partners, and the communities we serve.

With this in mind, Softchoice recently launched a diversity initiative with the first phase focusing on improving leadership opportunities for women in IT. It is the belief of the newly formed Leading Women Committee that developing female leaders is critical to creating a diverse and inclusive team environment within Softchoice. It is their goal is to improve retention, engagement and promotion of women at Softchoice by providing strategies on how women can better manage and leverage their own careers, and by addressing existing interests of women within the company.

As a way to take our “We take care of each other” value and express it outwardly, Softchoice’s Leading Women Committee is partnering with Dress for Success to help make an impact and help women in less fortunate situations regain their independence.

Dress for Success aims to promote the economic independence of women in transition by providing professional attire, a network of support, and career development tools to help women thrive in work and in life. Dress for Success empowers women to succeed in a number of different ways, such as resume building, interview preparation, professional attire programs and networking events.

This month, Softchoice is supporting Dress for Success by launching a corporate-wide clothing drive!

How can YOU get involved?

Launching today, Softchoice’s clothing drive will run until Friday May 16th in our Atlanta, Chicago, Montreal, Oakville, Seattle and Toronto offices.

Ladies, it’s time to look through your closets and do a little spring cleaning. Gentleman, please ask your wives, girlfriends, moms, sisters, and aunts if they have any professional attire that they would like to donate. By contributing clean and gently worn suits and work attire, you can help empower women in the workforce.

If you’re not in one of these metropolitan areas, you can still participate. Dress for Success is located across North America. Contact LeadingWomenCommittee (at) Softchoice (dot) com or go to the Dress for Success website at www.dressforsuccess.org to find your local affiliate.
