Our Dallas office recycles everything from glass and paper to batteries and toner, all done through a local recycling company. This company also offers e-waste recycling to Softchoice employees. Bring a lunch to work day

Before my time on the Softchoice GreenTeam comes to an end I would like to finish with one last project.  Hopefully this is something that will become more of an annual event.  My goal is to try and take as many Softchoice employee cars off the road as I can during lunch.  We would like to set up a day for everyone to either bring in a lunch and have lunch together or they should use some form of green transportation to go get lunch, like walking. Pay IT Green

In late 2009, Softchoice launched an E-billing program which was offered to all their customers. This program was specifically designed to reduce the invoicing.amount of paper used in customer

Internal records indicated 23.7% of all invoices created in 2010 were sent through the E-billing program which is equivalent to 87,435 invoices or 174,870 pages of paper.

The Softchoice E-billing program was able to…

  • Reduce 8.744 tonnes of carbon each year
  • Save 34.978 trees
  • Conserve 109,305.0 litres of waste water
  • Divert 1136.772KG of solid waste

2010 Softchoice Cares donations

During the term, Softchoice employees have raised over $250,000. The majority of the funds were distributed as follows:

Bridging the Digital Divide Causes $107,000
Sustaining Prior Initiatives $69,000
Haiti Relief $68,000
Local Charities $30,000

 

Bridging the Digital Divide

Bridging the Digital Divide was the largest effort for the Softchoice Cares Board this year.  As such, Softchoice Cares formed a partnership with Habitat for Humanity for the Technology Access Program.  Through this initiative, Softchoice will work in local cities in North America to provide funding and technical resources for the installation of computers and internet connections in select Habitat for Humanity homes.   Softchoice Cares also supported a number of other initiatives that helped to “bridge the digital divide” such as; Msani school in Malawi to purchase 12 computers and necessary hardware, Technology Access Foundation (TAF) Leadership Awards etc. Sustaining Previous Projects
